2011
The clock is ticking as my fingers tap the surfaces of these old keys; 2010 has come to an end, making way for 2011. In Manhattan, couples are sharing a kiss, friends and families are taking pictures and celebrating, and tightly packed confetti has burst into freedom, into the frosty air of NYC. 2010 was my last year being a teenager (I turn 20 in 2011’s November). It was the year my...

Little did she know I emptied out my bank account (which was in reservation for a master’s degree in the future and general savings) just to keep us from being evicted and with no home — on Christmas day nonetheless....

I often get the following questions/statements whether it be online or in real life: “Are you depressed?” “Is everything okay at home?” “You look sad, why are you sad?” “You look angry all the time. Why?” “You’re really quiet… You okay?” I understand that one can be whole-heartedly concerned and worried about my well being,...

It was raining hard with winds that tore trees down today in Queens (I’m not sure about Manhattan; it looked fine when my classes for the day were done). I didn’t see a point in opening my umbrella, so I flipped up the hood on my sweater (I later realized that this move was rather pointless against this kind of weather) as soon as I exited the bus and took my time walking home, walking at a ...
